At VIKTORIA, sustainability is much more than just a good idea. Sustainability is the goal we’re striving for in everything we do. We believe promoting an eco-friendly and cruelty free lifestyle truly makes an impact on the world for the better. To accomplish this, that means using environmentally friendly & cruelty free vegan leathers, such as PU leather.
We proudly manufacture 100% Synthetic Polyurethane (PU) Vegan Leather for all of our products to support vegan fashion, pro-environment, and cruelty-free lifestyles. PU is a composite material made of one or more layers of PU and a woven or non-woven textile.
PU is known to be a greener alternative to PVC Leather in both production and after-care. It does not require the same chemical plasticizers and will eventually degrade over time.
Most vegan leathers are created from polyvinyl chloride (also known as PVC). The production of PVC is highly toxic to humans and animals. The production of PVC results in the creation of dioxin, a manmade contaminant that remains in the body for a long time.
Furthermore, PVC is terrible for the environment; it is not biodegradable and creates microplastics (microplastics unfortunately are ingested by fish and other animals). PVC isn't easy to recycle and is often mixed with phthalates (cancer-causing chemicals) during production, thus we avoid PVC at all costs.
Additionally, we are working on a few changes here at VITKORIA to make everything we do even more sustainable. (We are currently developing a new line of handbags made from recyclable ocean plastics and fruit skins!).
